Up at 6.15, out of camp ground at 7.15!
Slept like a log, the booze must’ve helped, but woke with aching back.
This mornings aerial view…
We had to back-track down the highway for fuel ($2.28p/L) then off to Katherine, which is approx 450kms away. Should take us all bloody day, doing 90kph 🙄
It’s resembling Watership Down here, so many dead hares on the road, the most roadkill ice seen since before Alice Springs
Stopped at Larrimah, to see pink panther and went thru the ww2 museum, we’re so lucky to be a free country.
On to Mataranka, for a resupply of drinks and some Lillie’s 🥱, saw this huge ant hill, but didn’t bother with the hot springs, as every man and his dog looked to be turning off to them.
Boy did I misjudge the distance! I could have slept in to 9, but seems my body clock is now set in 6am 🤦🏻♀️. We got to the Gday Park, Katherine, at 12.30, we’re set up, had lunch and now trying to cool down under aircon.
Took a drive back into town (we’re out on the Gorge road, and what an eye-opener. Went into Kmart Khub, a ‘local’ walked out, setting off alarm, no one called him back, no security. Then we went to Woolworths, to get some fresh veg, while at checkout, a ‘local’ tries walking out through our checkout, holding a cab of Red Bull snd another small item. The checkout girl held him up, wanting to see his receipt… he tried hard to say he’d paid slready, but he did go back into store and thru another checkout where he paid for his stuff anyway. I was hot and over it, I don’t want to go looking around town again. To top off our long day, we have a van site right next to live music tonight, people set up in their camp chairs right out front of our door, it’s now 8.45 and I want to sleep. I’m thinking (already knew it years ago) caravanning/camping isn’t me thing.
