The Jayco heater works great, so great, I had to throw the quilt off me. Husband slept like a log, but I kept waking up thinking it’s time to go! 🥱
Here’s the sunrise over the Flinders Ranges, thru the window. I’m delaying going outside 😬
It’s been almost 50 years since I last saw Port Augusta, with my parents, on our way to Western Australia, in a Falcon 500 series station wagon. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Now I see wind turbines spread across the flats, nothing like that back in ‘73.
Our first stop and photo op, at Pimba, a nice relaxing stop, loo break, pics of Fiona, a coffee and sandwich each ($34!)
Close to Woomera, where ADF fired rockets back whenever, Pimba is a little settlement but a great servo and camping area.
Into next destination , for fuel, is Glendamo.
Arrived in Coober Pedy at 4.30! Opal diggings everywhere, so no walking around at night 😬
Gotta say, it’s a bloody long day, driving at 90kph, doing roughly 650kms since 8am. The way we’re going, we’ll be in Darwin by Sunday and we’re not meant to be there until Thursday!
Here’s some pics from this arvo.
Booked in at the Big4 van/motel joint, got a powered/mains water site. Otherwise, we have to pay extra for water. There’s a pool, but gosh darn, I forgot my swimmers 😁 Nobody needs to see THAT!
